A Front Porch Mini-Session

So the other day on my 365 blog I wrote about Becca needing a 'recent picture' .  I mentioned on my facebook fan page that I had a quick mini-session with Becca to get a photograph of her that day to send in to her new highschool. (Because of course, you can't get much more recent than the present and because I'm a sucker for a photo op). :)  Anyway, as promised here are a few of the images from that day.  You can view some color photographs from this session by visiting the fanpage or clicking here.  Now all I have to do is choose which one I want to send in .....

Little Artists

The girls were into the paint today creating masterpieces. Lela is on me to frame and hang her work.  I need to buy a matte cutter.  She has recently been selling her paintings for $1- $3 dollars.  Becca, in these photos, had been recruited by Lela to clean her brushes while she painted.  What else are big sisters for?

Of course, silliness always ensues in whatever project Lela is involved in- she is SO her father's daughter. :)

Becca doing her designated 'job'.  I love it when my girls enjoy time with each other.

They had so much fun this afternoon.  The table has now been cleared off, paint and brushes put away and canvases - 4 to be exact- are drying on the counter.  The girls have moved onto their next project- avidly watching a movie downstairs munching on popcorn.  Wonder what their next adventure will be?  Visit my facebook fanpage by clicking on the link to the left or by clicking here to see more of their painting adventure.

The Perfect Storm

Yesterday evening quite a storm came through.  One of the news anchors here described it like this:  "It came on like gangbusters."  The winds were blowing upwards of 74mph and in a matter of 15 minutes the temperature dropped from 94 to 69 degrees.  Although as quickly as it came on it was over and we were left with this amazing double rainbow and surreal, ethereal light.  I grabbed my camera and Lela and I hurried outside.  Here are a few of the images I was able to capture last night.

Lela was so excited to get outside and walk in the puddles.  She was really excited by all the beautiful colors to be seen in the sky.

Here she just had to see how high she could jump.  It was as if the electricity left in the air was affecting her energy levels.  She was so full of excitement it was contagious!  She brought such a huge smile to my face.  We were having fun exploring the after effects of the storm.

Towards the end of our exploration I noticed this gorgeous mix of colors from the storm clouds, sunset, etc.  I had to photograph this magenta cloud that was hovering over the neighborhood.

After this gorgeous view we called it a night.  I relish light like this.  It always amazes me how wonderful and awe inspiring the world we inhabit can be.

I've Done it Again!

I've dropped the ball on blogging.  I've dropped the ball on uploading photos to share with you on FB. I've...*sigh*  I think all there is to say is that I am here to start fresh.  I need to be sharing what is going on with you out here instead of being MIA.  I've learned that although I wish there were some blogging fairy out there, well, there isn't, that a blog can get dusty and no amount of swiffering is going to fix it- just sitting down and making the time to connect is the only thing that will clean it up and last but not least--I've learned that I really stink at blogging.

Okay, with all of that out of the way I can tell you this.  I am going to be better at blogging.  I have plenty of words to use, I'm sure anybody who knows me can attest to that being true and I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY and feel a burning need to share my work.  How am I going to share my work if there is no fairy to upload the images for me?  By doing it myself. Hopefully that will be enough. ;)
