The weather here in Omaha, NE has been beautiful! It almost feels like early spring around here lately. Yesterday was Lela's last day of break from school so we decided to go spend a little time having fun at the park.

Whew! Things have been a whirlwind over the past month and a half! I have been a busy Editing, Shipping, Packaging, Gift Wrapping, Cookie Baking, Photo Taking Elf ~ and I have been loving every minute of it!

I took a break today to start working on/editing my own family's Christmas session so that I can start to decide on the Christmas card I would like to use this year. (One step at a time and first things, first, right? lol) Here are just a few of the photos from the session with my girls. I'll be sure to share what my final decision for this year's holiday card is out here with you.

October Giveaway ~ Vala's Pumpkin Patch

This time of year my family and I always look forward to visiting Vala's Pumpkin Patch. They claim that it is 'fun for the whole family' and I would certainly agree! There are so many awesome things to do when you visit the farm. Kettle korn (YuM), fun games, animals to feed (including a llama!) and ponies rides are just a few of the cool things that you can do at Vala's.

Lela and I visited the pumpkin patch this past weekend and had a wonderful time together. Her favorite adventures at Vala's included the pig races, a train ride on the Pumpkin Creek Railroad, 9 holes of mini put at Graveyard Golf, Hackberry Hideout, a tour of the Lost Pumpkin Mine, the Corn Maze and of course a Hay Ride to the pumpkin patch to pick ~~her very own~~ three pumpkins to take home.

It was such a great time that I wanted to be able to share it with all of you that are local to eastern Nebraska (or able to visit the area). So, I purchased two weekend tickets to give away here on the blog! This giveaway is going to be a short because the fun at Vala's only lasts through the end of October.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:

On a recent session my clients and I were walking through an alley and low and behold what do we see? The above grafitti. I couldn't help myself - I hollered out "Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!" and then realized I wasn't with my family ....I mean, for real, what in the WORLD do pac-man ghosts have to do with downtown alleys? It's all very bizarre- including my little outburst. Sometimes I find myself so funny but then again, if you have to explain your own joke like I am doing now then it probably isn't that funny to begin with, right? *hanging head*
Picure it: I'm getting ready to take a photo after switching lenses and waiting for a client to change outfits. I lift the camera to my face and realize I have forgotten to take the lens cap off. *blushing* I mean, I knew it was still on once the camera was up to my eye but still- how very embarrassing! ...I'd like to say that a) I never lose my lens cap (always to be found in my pocket) and b) I never forget to take the lens cap off -- but then I would be lying on both accounts. I wonder if I ever will stop experiencing those little embarrassing moments?

Awesome:

Lily pads and koi fish ponds. <3 One of my favorite venues for outdoor sessions has this little pond and I just love it. It reminds me of when I was a child and we used to go feed the ducks and fish at a pond near the place I grew up.
Unlimited minutes! Free long distance! Believe me, I have a lot of words when it comes to chatting with my besties. :D
All week long we have been playing a math flash card game with Lela and she LOVES it! I am super happy and excited that she finally uses the words 'fun' and 'math' in the same sentence. It's awesome. ;)

I am so super excited to introduce to you my gorgeous 2012 Marian High School Senior Rep, Tori! She is a beautiful person inside and out. We had an absolute ball on her session together. Tori has a great sense of humor, a quiet confidence and is just an all around great gal. :) Here is her sneak peek and blog feature that includes some GoRgEoUs photographs and a fun interview!

Q. If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?

A: This is super cliché and makes me sound like I am in a beauty pageant, but I would like to end world hunger.

Q. What quality do you like most about yourself? Why?

A: My confidence. I don’t think I am cocky, I am just confident in my abilities.

Q. If you could go to dinner with any celebrity who would you dine with?

A: I would want to go to dinner with Lady Gaga and Elton John (yes, they have to be together)

Q. If you were stranded on an island and could have one person with you who would it be? What one thing would you have with you?

A: My friend, Emily Fischer, just because it would be a total joke for us and we would have so much fun…hopefully. I would bring the 7th Harry Potter book. It never gets old.

Q. What's your most embarrassing moment yet?

A: I can’t believe I am telling anyone this but freshman year I wet the bed….It had been years and years since I had done something like that so it was super strange. At least it was something no one saw or knew of…until now that is.

Q. What are your dream goals?

A: Since I am a senior all I can think about recently is college so my dream goal is going to Loyola Chicago. I’m sure once I get past this college phase there will be another, better dream.

Q. What is your secret talent?

A: Even though I quit volleyball awhile ago, I would say I’m still pretty good at it. Does that count as a secret talent?

Q. If you had a free ticket to travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

A: Greece. Ever since I read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I have wanted to go there. I forgot about it for awhile and then when I saw “Mama Mia” the desire to go there came back. For some reason I just think Greece looks really beautiful and relaxing.

Q. If you could star in a t.v. show what would it be?

A: 30 Rock. That show is my all time favorite and I would love to be as funny as those characters are and get to hang out with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin

Q. What is your favorite childhood memory?

A: My grandparents used to live on a farm in northern Wisconsin and when I was really young, my sister and I would spend our days climbing in the cherry or apple trees or swimming and fishing in the lakes up there.

Q. What are your favorite tunes?

A: My sister says I listen to “whiney” music, but I disagree. I mostly listen to Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, the Beatles. If I am listening to the radio, it is either on 99.9 or the classical station (90.7?)

Q. What's inside a bocce ball? (Becca really wants to know! lol)

A: I cheated and looked online and found that bocce balls are made of either wood, metal or stone. The best bocce balls are made of hard plastic though.

Tori's favorite colors right now are lime green and turquoise. She also told me thats she loves flowers. :)

Awkward and Awesome ...Saturday?!? - Omaha Professional Photographer

Awkward:

Ummmm. Really with that? Did you even take the time to LOOK at those mushrooms? *disgusting* Michelle and I had a good laugh at that bizarre fungus. Her dog decided to roll all over and smoosh another one to pieces and she about died! I told her that spores do travel (read: quit making fun of my yard or else!) but she has rock in her landscaping so maybe she is safe? that and I am not really sure how to go about transplanting fungus. We've never had mold or mushrooms or fungus in our mulch before but this year it is EVERYWHERE. (I blame the floodwaters.)

See? I wasn't exaggerating. That yellow stuff right up there is sometimes referred to as dog vomit mold. (promise- google it) WT....? You have NO idea the amount of stressing I did to myself throughout this ~~summer~~ mold season. I was constantly rehearsing conversations/mulling over situations in my mind with potential clients visiting the studio. They all went something like this: "Oh please come in...oh that?.... Nooooo. It's not dog vomit it just LOOKS like dog vomit." -horror with a hint of disbelief flashes across said clients' faces. Next, in my daymares, an obvious discomfort would envelop the room because inevitably IN EVERY SCENARIO the pretend client would obviously be watching where they stepped in the house to avoid the dog's vomit. RIGHT?! ...I'd like to say that I don't have a dog or that my dog doesn't vomit but neither of those cases are true. However, what I can say is that stuff in my mulch is NOT my dog's vomit. Or any dog's vomit.

...I have no words for the mushrooms. None.

Hissing geese. I had an amazing engagement session with a SUPER CUTE COUPLE and let's just say the geese around the lake weren't exactly friendly. I might have let out a little yelp....maybe. Okay, so a tiny little noise slipped past my lips. It was scary OKAY? Next time I am bringing bread to make friends or just visiting that location AFTER the geese have all flown south for the winter.
Missing TWO WEEKS of these super fun posts. It's very {awkward}.
Becca has a gradeschool acquaintence (read boy) that recently moved into our neighborhood. I honk every.single.time. we drive by his home. --That's right. I'm *that* kind of mom. Becca is quick though. She is starting to act like it doesn't bother her and that, quite frankly, is taking all the fun out of it.

Awesome:

Becca got a car! :D
I've been super busy with lots of sessions and frankly that makes me very happy. :) I really do love my job!
I've completely cleaned off my hard drive after backing up on the external hard drive and discs. My pc is running SUPER FAST and that is SUPER AWESOME! It feels good to take that huge task off my to-do list.
Lists- I like them. It's nice to check things off as I go and stay organized.
I got to visit with my cousin, Jennifer, last night! She was on her way to TX and stopped here to break up her long trip. It was soooo good to spend time with her!
Lifetime movies and SciFi movies. Becca and I always watch bad t.v. while I edit on the weekends. We both enjoy it. :)

Not much to report here ....the week has been minimally awkward but more importantly- I am too excited to spend time on AWKWARD....I want to get to the AWESOME!

Today is my 10th WEDDING Anniversary!!! <3 <3 <3 I am super excited to be celebrating my marriage with the most wonderful man, super father and all around great guy. He makes me laugh, dries my tears when I cry and loves me unconditionally. In my book, that makes him super-fantastic-awesome! I love you, Steve!

When emailing a client back this week with available dates for a session I inadvertently told her my available dates for 2012. ... it was quite embarrassing to have to email her back and explain that I had jumped an entire year ahead in my calendar. Whoops!
Watching a movie with Becca and Steve and JUMPING off the couch because I was so startled. They laughed at me. ... it's cool, though. I {lOvE} the sound of their laughter AND in all honesty, it was pretty darn funny....almost as funny as when Becca and I hid from Steve in the garage behind the Pilot and waited for him to round the car to JUMP UP AT HIM YELLING. ....we SO spooked him. It was {awesome}! :D Who's laughing now? ;)
Emailing Lela's teacher explaining that she has a Thursday appt. and realizing that I had switched the weeks. What IS it with me and dates this week?!?

Awesome:

Lela's owl lunchbox pictured in the photo up there. Every time I look at that lunchbox that owl's big ol' eyes bring a smile to my face.
Becca is officially a sOpHmOre!! Friday was her first official day back. This year, she is featured in the school's calendar for the month of August with some of her friends from homeroom last year!
Becca getting a Justin Bieber folder and decorating it with all kinds of mushy things and writing Maddie's name and homeroom on the inside of it. (Maddie is not a fan of JB) Becca then talked another girl into handing the folder to Madeline explaining that she had found it on the floor near her desk. Apparently, Maddie's face was priceless...it must have been a smidgen {awkward} for her. I just wish I would've been there to see it! I love harmless *funny* practical jokes.
Lela actually *asking* me to take back to school portraits of her. (I had to stop myself from shouting at her, "Where is my daughter and what have you done with her you alien impostor?!?!".) I think the above photo will be the one she hands out to her friends this year.

Realizing last week that I title each of these posts Awkward & Awesome in the Title section and then in the text section type Awesome & Awkward. I also post it backwards on FB ....I guess I must be a glass half full kind of person at heart but geez! *so embarrassing!*
The top photo- I had to get Becca's permission to share it here on the blog. It's awkward for her and that is why it was put in this section..... but I have to say that for me it hits both the awesome AND awkward categories because she is the best big sister! The photo is of Lela and Becca on Lela's first day of school this year. Lela requested that Becca curl her hair and Becca happily obliged. I love that they are so close. <3
The second photo. It's a photo of Lela leaving school on her first day and walking to the car for the drive home. She spotted me from far away and proceeded to weave in and out of people hiding from my lens. She was like a cat! I would move one way and she would dart the other! As she got close and could no longer hide behind strangers she went with her last resort- covering her face. She must have found it awkward that I was out with my camera trying to get her coming out of school. In my defense: A) I maintain that I am *not* the only momma to do so. B) You'd think she would be use to me taking advantage of every photo op. It's important to document life! You only walk out of third grade for the first time once!

Awesome:

My dad's new trike! ..and their Frog Togs-- Great rain suits for you bikers out there!
My parents came to visit to surprise Anna for her birthday. <3 It was a great surprise and a super fun visit! We took advantage of the nice weather and went riding a couple of the days.
Watching my girls and Maddie along with the neighbor boys have a HUGE water fight. It was epic ..... and better than reality t.v. :D
My husband surprised me and brought me home dinner last night. <3
Movies! Every night this week around 9:00 Steve and I have put down our work/computer and watched a movie. It's been awesome. :)
Today is book buying day at Marian. After purchasing Becca's books and making sure everything was in the 15980763 lbs. bag we schlepped everything to Becca's new locker. Above her locker was the recipe card you see pictured in the last photo. What a great way to start the year and awesome advice. I love that darn high school and so does Becca. This is just one example of what sets Marian apart and why it is such a great experience for Becca.

Not so awkward for me but I'm pretty sure it was for my brother-in-law, Ben. Last night Ben and Anna and the kids came over for dinner to celebrate Anna's birthday. Ben went to open a container of baby food -carrots to be exact- when apparently there was a mishap and somehow orange mush went flying through the air and landed on our custom blinds in the kitchen. He tried to deny it was the carrots. We all knew better. THEN he tried to tell us he had did us a favor. ...He might be onto something there. I hate those dang things! - but shhhhhh!! don't tell him I said that ;)
Not seeing a spider web and putting my hand right through it. - EWWWW! I absolutely detest that sticky web feeling on my skin. Hopefully the spider was out hunting and nowhere near when I inadvertently destroyed his clever trap. I hear they like to get revenge.....
Auto-correct on my droid. If you send a text about fairies and scream (berries and ice cream) then yeah, I think you have the right to question what the hell the makers of Android auto-correct or voice to text were thinking. It seems to me something went awry somewhere....
My sister's unhealthy fear of squirrels ; it's awkward AND hilarious! She always thinks the sneaky little guys are after her when all they really want is for her to share her apples. (It's a case of Sciurophobia ;) )

It's my sister's BIRTHDAY WEEK! Whoot! :D Happy Birthday, Anna!! It was so awesome to get together and have dinner to celebrate Anna's birthday last night. <3 I always enjoy our time together. Ben's not too bad himself. ;) **I was going to use photos of our celebration last night but Anna pretty much put her foot down. It had been a long day at the zoo and she had left her model face at home, MMMkkkk? Who can argue with a birthday girl??
Apple Carmel cupcakes!!! (with cream cheese icing. {decadent}
Breakfast in bed (along with Phineus and Ferb if you ask the little one)
I get to see my parents soon!!!! I miss them so much and I am really looking forward to the visit!!
Late night chats with my sister Kendra. ...she doesn't talk on the phone much so it's always a treat when she decides to spare a minute or two. <3
Spending the last week of summer before school starts soaking up my girls. I can't believe they will be starting school next week!

The fine print:

You may choose to purchase back to back minis. This is recommended for those of you whom have three or more children being photographed during your mini session - The 20 minute mini is being offered for $150 (value of $310). Purchasing two in a row minis will require an investment of $280 (valued at $620). Back to back or two in a row minis are sold to individuals or individual families only...in other words no sharing costs with your best friend's family to take advantage of the extra discounts.

definition of awkward: shooting in full manual and then getting distracted by other daughter asking question, realizing the girls are giggling and quickly moving the camera back up into shooting position knowing then and there that you are going to kick yourself for not having it in AF because perhaps the cutest real photo op just been missed because you know the image is going to be blurry. definition of a mother's love: who cares? It's a damn cute photo regardless of the OOF situation. True story. Also awkward? Run-on sentences. ;)

Awkward:

The above *blurry* photo. As a photographer you always strive to put your best work out there for your clients to see. I knew the moment I decided to try to capture the girls giggling after taking the camera away and holding it down by my hip this was going to be the outcome of that image. I didn't care. I did it anyway. I love it. ...even with all its imperfections. I included it because it makes me smile. It is far from technically correct and that's okay. Even if it is a little awkward to share out here on my blog. :)
The TV randomly turning on (no it wasn't set on a timer or even a channel I watch! and NO I didn't not roll over onto the remote and turn it on, the remote was nowhere near me-it was on the nightstand) super early in the morning and it being a sermon on taking control of your emotions. It seems God was speaking to me through today's technology. I'm not an out of control kind of person but it seems lately I have been letting other people's actions and choices affect how I am feeling. I needed to hear it obviously, so thank you Jesus for smacking me in the forehead.
Telling myself I was going to get back into exercising daily starting August 1st....today is the 4th and the most exercise I have done would be ~~walking~~ driving to the mailbox. What is my DEAL?!

Awesome:

Being the first person to wish my daddy HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!! He is the most amazing man and I am blessed to have him as a father. It is because of him and the role that he played in my life that I was able to find such a fabulous husband...who makes quite a fantastic daddy to our girls. :) I love you, daddy! xoxo
Our BFFs-- Michelle and Daphne are so much fun! Yesterday Daphne brought over a shirt for Lela so they could have matching BFF shirts- how cute is that?!?! To our dismay they didn't have the shirt in our size. :) haha!
Steve is coming home today! :D I am so excited to have him back in Omaha after his Gatlinburg trip. I am also very thankful that everybody had a safe and enjoyable time. If you have the inclination- please say a prayer Steve, Joe and Lonnie find their way home safely today. :)
Becca had a great time competing in the D1 meets this past weekend! She did a fabulous job. I am so proud of her hard work and commitment to the sport. :)

Going to lunch with a great friend and my girls only to be asked by the waitress (who knew my friend from highschool) if we were his family. Um, no. ... and as if that wasn't awkward enough she then asked if Becca was his girlfriend to which he replied, "No. I'd be in jail if Becca was my girlfriend." LOL It was funny but it was definitely slightly awkward for all of us.
Apparently one of the moms at the swim meet last weekend implied that Becca and one of her teammates were dating. Not awkward for me but awkward for Becca....she says that they were just talking. I think that they were flirting. This is NOT my first rodeo. ;)

Becca made a D1 cut for swim! :D She will be swimming the 100 back and all 15 and over relays!! GooooooOOOOOoooooo BARRACUDA! :D
Becca brought home 3 medals from the D2 meet (D1 qualifying meet) this past Saturday!!! Awwwwwwww YEAH! Get it get it get it!
Steven made me a mix cd. That's right, like those mixed tapes you used to get from your sweetheart in highschool...it's the best gift ever! <3
Watching Steve drive off on his Harley. I'm going to miss him but I know he will be creating precious memories on the trip to Gatlinburg, TN with his friend, Joe, my daddy and his own dad. It makes me happy that he has this opportunity to have these vacations with our fathers. *PLEASE keep all of them in your prayers for safe travels and good times!
.Going to lunch with Tom who is back home for a semester. Tom, LMR and I took photography classes together here in Omaha and always had a great time together- working on projects and regular photo class kinds of things (going to art galleries, critiques) We often were each other's subjects for projects and always had a great time in the darkroom- the three of us would scout out enlargers right in a row. Color class was probably the most entertaining. I don't know if you've even been in a darkroom but it's called that for a reason. (Black and White film darkrooms are not as dark as color darkrooms because there is a dim light.) So when I say darkroom for color class I'm talking Mark Twain Cave dark where you can't see your own hand in front of you....our class was slightly rowdy and we were always pulling shenanigans or scaring each other horribly. Good times. Anyway, it was nice to go to lunch and catch up with Tom. This time it was Red Robin, next time Pepperjax. *yum* (wish you were here, LMR!)
The video text Maddie sent to Becca from Florida. It was so cute and so sweet! I love that those two girls have such a great friendship. What a blessing for them both. :)

Forgetting that I needed to blog today! *blushing* Now THAT is definitely 'awk'. (btw,...who says that anyways? Sheesh..being around teenagers seems to be affecting my language. It's like totally aWkWard. Like you know what I mean? .... ;) )
We had a good laugh driving down the 80 after picking up Becca from swim earlier this week. I had Maddie and Lela with me and we had stopped for donuts on the way. Anyway, Becca was so ravenous from her early morning swim practice that once she got in the car and realized we had donuts she couldn't quite get to them fast enough. The look of horror on the truck driver's face as Becca tried to stuff the entire donut into her mouth (partially because she was hungry-don't let her fool you- and partially because she was being silly) was priceless BUT what was funnier was the look on Becca's face when she realized the guy was watching her. {aWkWard} We laughed all the way home. :D
Have you ever heard the term "swamp a$$"? Well, everywhere I looked at the concert on Monday it seemed people of all ages and sizes were suffering from it. I didn't bother sitting down the entire night. Can you imagine being one of those people with their entire backside soaking wet from sweat and walking around a concert in front of 1,000s of people??...um...definitely awkward.
Brazenly admitting to some peers that I prefer photographs of people that smile with their eyes or use their body language to convey emotion and no smiles at all to regular ol' smiling photographs. I felt like the odd man out but hey- it's the truth and I know that's what makes the world go 'round. It's okay to be me even if at times it feels a little awkward. ;)

Going to the Journey concert with our great friends and my sister and her husband!
Our two little furry friends, Buddy and Mij. They provide so many laughs for our family and are such great snuggle bugs. :D
Getting a compliment on a photo of Becca from a super talented photographer and friend that I admire. I was over the moon! (Dear God, if he reads this post it could possibly end up falling into the {aWkWaRd} category but I have to be honest- it made my day!) He used the words fantastic and classic; two things I always strive for in my work. ....I still smile when I think about it! haha
Lela received a package in the mail today from her Gramma Vining for her birthday. It's those turtles pictured above. They have decorative plates on the bottom and are for sealing envelopes with wax. They smell like fire or smoke from fire and Gramma Vining says that they are supposedly very old antiques. We think they're pretty darn AwEsOmE!
Late night talks with my best friend in Omaha, Michelle.
Finding out that a great friend from school, Tom, is moving back to the O-town for a few months! We took several photography courses together and worked on many projects throughout the semesters. The only thing missing will be Lynette.

My daughter and her bestie attending a concert and coming home with some pretty entertaining stories...One of my favorites were how they were talking through smiling teeth all night after Maddie explained to Becca that her dad could read lips- how awkward for them, right? (LOL) ...even funnier? I explained he could read facial muscles as well. bahahahahaha!
Okay, so this is a cheater but I *must* share it with you guys. And don't worry I have gotten full expressed permission to share this out here with all of you because, well, Maddie has a sense of humor AND recognizes awkward when she sees it. ....Anyway, a few weeks ago, okay so several weeks ago Maddie came out of Becca's room and said, "Mrs. Vining?" I looked up from my computer to see what she needed. She had a huge smile on her face and started giggling. I'm all about a good laugh and boy did I get one! She turned around and the *EnTiRe* backseam of her jeans had ripped out. Apparently, she went to go sit down on Becca's floor and on the way down the corner of an open dresser drawer that Becca had failed to close all the way caught her jeans and well....let's just say her drawers (bad pun intended) had an fight with the dresser and THE DRESSER WON!

(I picked up some fresh basil, roasted almonds (our FavOrIte), homemade soap, purses for my nieces, a bracelet for Lela and a funky headband for Becca. We also had some *super* yummy rootbeer and the girls enjoyed chocolate croissants! Oh yeah- AND I found a vendor to make a custom strap for my camera!)
Movie night with my hubby <3
Steven texting me this morning to tell me he loves me and to have a great day. How could I not after reading his sweet words?

Okay, so this isn't so much awkward for me but I am pretty sure my husband found it to be. We grilled shish kabobs one evening while my family was here visiting. They were tasty--once they were fully cooked. Anyway, I was in charge of the grill and Steve kept insisting they were ready to come off the grill (both the chicken and steak). I kept trying to tell him the chicken ones were still not fully cooked but he insisted he was right. So, being the good wife I am I finally agreed with him and served him up a hot plate of raw chicken...while everybody watched. Once he cut into a piece and realized it was still very much raw (and all of us were having a good laugh) he stopped giving me a hard time and brought the kabob back to be put on the grill. Needless to say I was able to continue grilling without any tips from the peanut gallery.
Losing my keys. I am so bummed! I have looked everywhere- and I mean *everywhere*. I even dug through 8 bags of trash from the huge Independence Day BBQ we hosted on Saturday--awkward AND disgusting!! Everybody who had a purse of jacket has checked to see if they were put in the wrong place. Even diaper bags have been checked. Underneath cushions, in cars, outside in the lawn, I even pulled the refrigerator out! No dice. You know I had to be desperate if I went through trash...an extremely awkward and unpleasant experience.

Fourth of July! I love fireworks and BBQ but most of all I love FAMILY! My mom and dad along with my nieces were here to celebrate one of my favorite holidays. It was so awesome to spend the holiday with them!
Swimming and the park.
Having a teenage daughter that can take the girls to the pool on days that I would rather spend catching up on laundry or a good book.
Watching the girls ride their bikes in the cul de sac and having such a great time together.
Game of Thrones. We have HBO on Demand now so not only do I get to watch True Blood but I have found a new series that I like (Game of Thrones) and watched it in its entirety (all 10 episodes) in a few evenings. ....okay so that should go under awesome and awkward. haha

Hi all! Thanks for stopping by for another Awesome & Awkward Thursday! post. :) I have to admit there were more AWESOME things happening than AwKwArD and for that, as always, I am eternally grateful. :)

Awkward

Ummm....the above photo? My youngest can lick her armpit and she acts as if she should win a gold medal or be nationally recognized because of her amazing ~~amount of silliness~~ 'talent'. ....She takes after her father. For real.

Meeting the Mom of one of Lela's friends. That part wasn't awkward. She is actually quite nice. The awkward part came when her college aged son came out of the house to go for a run and she proceeded to tell Becca, "This one is a good boy but he's to old for you- I have a 19 yr. old son. Maybe you should come by more often? eh??" ..... blink blink ...... *inside my head I said* "UM NO? ARE YOU KIDDING?!?! She's ONLY 15!" ..... - Instead, I kept my composure and said, "Or maybe not at all. I don't think her dad is in any big hurry for her to start dating. Besides, your 19 yr old is still to old for Becca. She's 15." *smiling through teeth* Meanwhile Becca is a standing with a big grin on her face and glowing a lovely shade of blush. I really think I'm going to lock that girl in a closet. ...... 45 sounds like a good age for her to start dating to me, what do you think?

My nieces are here visiting from Illinois!!! :D *doing happy dance* I get to keep these little lovelies for 12 days and I intend to soak up every last minute of their visit. I look forward to this every summer. These girls have such a big piece of my heart. Aren't they just adorable?!
Sitting outside with my neighbors in the evenings watching the kids play and visiting until the street lights come on.
Running errands with my brother-in-law while he is here visiting. It's nice to spend some quality time with him. <3

We went to the Lewis and Clark Monument Park in Council Bluffs, IA to see what the flooding looks like from the bluffs. It was very surreal to see the tips of trees just peeking out from the water in the flooded areas. You can see how it is creeping up to Eppley Airfield in Omaha, NE and how parts of 29 are underwater. Here are a few of the things you might see if you visited the Lewis and Clark Monument.

Meet Mij - our loving, super sweet, funny and scared out of his mind, chihuahua puppy (he'll be a year old this October). He has the funniest and sweetest personality. He is quite endearing and loves to cuddle with everybody and especially adores little babies! There's just one problem ..... He hates the world outside of his little space he calls home. Well, maybe hate is a strong word. I think he really wants to enjoy it but he is afraid somebody or something might eat him. He looks at other dogs as if they are some strange alien species that he does not recognize and he literally is afraid of his own shadow in the deck door! Poor little guy, he really needs to get some confidence and realize that there is no way any of us would let something happen to him. Nevertheless we can't seem to convince him otherwise. Maybe one day....

Forgetting today is THURSDAY! and posting this so late in the afternoon.
Taking my sweet and lovely teenager to a doctor appointment and having her "shush" me in front of the doctor so that she could answer the questions the way she saw fit.
Taking the girls to get donuts, ordering a half dozen and then at the last minute having to add ONE MORE..... not because of my girls but because that white-frosting, pink-sprinkled, raspberry-filled bit of loveliness was calling *my* name.
The tornado sirens going off and me running down the stairs after my children like a packed camel with my camera, kindle, water bottles, laptop and FORGETTING my phone. No worries, we were safe and it just ended up being 75 mph winds with the thunderstorm. (and for that I am very very thankful)

Awesome

Awesome is what's pictured above! A few years back my girls broke our glass top stove in our basement kitchenette while arguing over a golf club one New Year's Eve. (I know- it's sounds like a story but I promise it's the truth.) We've never replaced it. I tell you, it's nothing I was excited about getting fixed- the glass alone would be $394 and to replace the entire thing is closer to around $800 or more. I have been putting it off because there are about 1,194 different ways that I would rather spend the money. ....this is where the awesome part comes in....Today started (this is almost a DOUBLE awesome bullet) our neighborhood's garage sale weekend. We took a walk around the neighborhood and low and behold I FOUND THE STOVE TOP!! ....I FOUND THE STOVE TOP FOR $50!!! The way I see it, I now have $750 to spend on fun photography stuff. Because that's how much I saved by stumbling on this great find. And that, my friends, is pure awesomeness. For real.

It's time for another round of Awesome & Awesome Thursday! This week has been a little of both but more on the *Awesome* side and for that I am very grateful! I can't wait to see what Missie and Heather come up with for this week. Be sure to look for their blog links at the end of this post!

Awkward

Although this snapshot that I chose to depict *awkward* is rather cute, it best depicts what I am about to explain. It's Becca's reaction to that gift in Lela's hand that makes me absolutely giggle every time I look at this photo. I didn't realize (and if I did I would never admit to it ;) ) what kind of awkward position I put Becca in by buying Lela a super soaker for her birthday to take to the pool. The awkward part comes in to play when you realize the havoc that will surely ensue next pool play date- we only own one super soaker. There is no way for Becca to defend herself. She has no water power and will be at Lela's mercy. I figure it's all fun and games until Momma gets soaked. Then I will be sure to run out and buy 4 more- two for me and two for Becca and then we'll see who will get soaked the most. ;) Lela will watch where she aims that thing if she knows what's best. ;)
My neighbor, Michelle, making the *cutest* cupcake shaped cake for Lela's birthday and after slicing it for the girls I went to move it off the table AND DROPPED IT. Totally embarrassing!
Inviting neighbors over to grill out and the FIRE that ensued from the gas grill that melted my mascara and smoked us off our deck. (Don't worry- it remained contained within the grill) Steve had promised to clean the grill after the last time I battled fire and brimstone but never got around to it. I think next time HE is going to be the one to grill. Betcha it gets cleaned then.
Participating in a June Photography Challenge and NOT POSTING REGULARLY. *sheesh* Am I ever going to be a better blogger?
My neighbor catching me outside trying to capture my awesome photo. I think it shocked him to see me out so early and it was a tad overcast but I knew it would be beautiful....He actually gave me a hard time about being out at 6:00am across the street, in the middle of the cul de sac and eventually onto the back deck.....I guess my morning bed head is a tad ridiculous looking.

Waking up and catching a beautiful sunrise. I loved how the overcast storm clouds were making their way across the sky while that sunshine was giving such a lovely promise of a beautiful day.
Celebrating my daughter's birthday! It was so much fun to take her to her favorite place to eat and watching her open gifts. She is my sunshine. <3
My neighbor baking Lela a cake (even if I dropped it). She is the best 'udder mudder' and a great friend.
Becca making it back to swim practice. -- Because things are back to normal around here. The summer got off to a different start than what was expected. It's nice to be back into the groove of things. Who says kids are the only ones that need a schedule?
Watching Lela ride her new bike around and around and around the cul de sac. It reminds me of when I was younger.
Watching Lela and Daphne dance and karaoke to PINK's cd. *hilarious and super cute all at the same time*
Solidifying plans for my nieces to come for a visit in July! I am *so* excited!
Going to the Omaha Arts Festival together as a family. It was a ton of fun! I highly recommend checking it out next year if you missed it this year.

Today's challenge is eyes. In portraiture, the most important part of a photograph of somebody is their eyes. When viewing somebody's photograph, our eyes/brain automatically seek out the person's eyes in the portrait first - before anything else we seek to make eye contact even in images! I do believe that old cliche- the eyes are the window to the soul is true. We speak out loud with our mouth, convey even more with body language but our eyes trump all.

The skies here in Nebraska are beautiful. I remember when we first moved to Omaha telling my mom about how bright blue the sky was and how it looked like I could reach up and grab the clouds right out of the sky. A Childhood Memory

When I was four my parents surprised me with a bicycle for my birthday. I was so jazzed!! I remember my parents teaching me how to ride, the day my training wheels came off, riding double with my little sister, learning to ride one-handed and graduating to no hands! I also remember my cousin getting her hand stuck in the spokes because she was done riding and I wanted to keep going so she tried to stop the bike- not something I would recommend to anybody. ;) I also remember busting open my chin and needing stiches from a bike accident. No worries, you can't even see the scar anymore. ;)

I had so much fun on that bike. It makes me happy to see my children enjoy their bikes as much as I did when I was kid. What are some of your favorite childhood memories? I'd love to hear them!

In all truthfulness this is a day (or two) late even though it looks like it was posted Thursday by the time date stamp. I really went back and forth on whether or not to post this week because I had a death in the family and was out of town, tired, sad and worn out. ...BUT...the more I thought about things the more I realized that sometimes it's best to concentrate on the Awesome & Awkward things in life instead of the just plain awful. So, here we go!

Awkward

Standing *inside* the funeral home and saying to my Aunt Sandy, "Sheesh! I am so hot from being outside! I'm dying of heat!" ....long pause..... "No pun intended." She giggled (thank God). Sometimes it's good to laugh- especially when you don't feel like it.
Pulling into my parents' driveway and being deafened by the song of the cicadas. The noise was so loud I felt like I had stepped into an episode of the Twilight Zone. Apparently every 7 years they come in large numbers and stay for quite a period of time. They are red beady-eyed insects who molt and are UGLY. They fly kamikaze all over the place and don't exactly come in for the smoothest landings. Most awkward part of my time with the cicadas? Screaming like a 5 year old girl when one flew into my hair in front of my dad who couldn't help but laugh at me. The cicadas are sometimes referred to as locusts. Either way?? Blech. Gross.
Taking my little sister out to eat at a local restaurant in Quincy, Illinois as a thank you for letting the girls stay with her and not having enough cash to pay the bill. Yes. You heard me. I didn't have enough cash and she had to loan me a $5. *awkward* In my defense, I don't carry cash. I happened to have $20 on me from pulling out money from the ATM the day before to pay the babysitter (thank goodness I took out extra). This place did not accept debit or credit cards or ANY kind. They accepted checks- as long as they were local. I think I should be carrying a crisp $100 in my wallet for now on because you just never know.....

Awesome

In spite of saying goodbye to an amazing Aunt- it really was wonderful to spend time with family that I haven't seen in a long long long while. Although, the reason we all got together was sad- it was awesome to be able to spend time together, reminisce, laugh, cry and be there for each other- and for that I am grateful.
Knowing how much I love my family and feeling how much I am loved.
Maid-Rite sandwiches and fried mushrooms. *yum* (It was worth being $5 short!) This is a sandwich you can't find anywhere but in Quincy, IL. They are the BEST!
The Tower Pizza in Quincy, IL. I heart their sauce!
Spending time with my sisters- all four of us together. I miss them and love them.
Seeing Bruiser, my shihtzu that lives with my parents- sooooo, technically he isn't mine anymore ;)
Going back home and coming back home. It's funny. They say home is where your heart is- my heart resides in two different states.

Becca makes the best brownies. I have a love-hate relationship with them. They are so moist and chewy and scrumptiously chocolatey that I just can't have one! ...in the morning with coffee or a midafternoon treat or even a bedtime snack! Mmmmmm strawberries! When I was a child growing up in Illinois I used to help our neighbor, Leo, pick his strawberry patches with my mom and my sister. The patches were more like fields. HUGE. Those strawberries were the yummiest strawberries ever. They were ripe with sunshine and just burst their sweetness right into your mouth the moment they hit your lips. My mom used to get on us to make sure that we were picking more than we were eating but Leo always smiled and told us we could have as many as we wanted. He was a really neat man. He farmed, played the saxophone, always had something sweet to say to us and he let us run around and play all kinds of imagination games in his barns and old corn bins that children do. I miss him.

Today's challenge was to photograph something from a high angle. When I was in taking photography classes in college there was a point that I became very interested in what was in the foreground of images...or better yet, photographing things in the forefront of the image that can be unexpected. Today's challenge was to photograph something green. This time of year there are all kinds of fabulous green things available to photograph but I wanted to try something different and find things from inside the house to challenge myself a bit. Clouds

Today's photography challenge is clouds. Of course, today, there isn't a cloud in this Nebraskan patch of sky. Who knows what later this afternoon will bring but I didn't want to wait and end up without and image to share with you today. So, I decided on this photograph that was actually taken last week as a storm was blowing through. The weather here is unpredictable. Storms tend to be violent and move through the area quickly. They are very intriguing and awe inspiring....and sometimes very scary. This particular storm didn't wreak as much havoc as I thought it was going to- it passed by quickly with a slight downpour. It mostly threatened us with these ominous looking clouds. I exposed for that bright patch of blue sky behind it. It was late afternoon and should have been very bright and sunshiney out but because of the storm system it was very dark. I wanted to capture the difference of light between what was above us and what the sky would return to once the storm system had passed through. I always find the power of mother nature, God's creation, amazing. One thing I never leave home without and admittedly would feel a little incomplete without is perfume. My favorite scent is Calvin Klein's Euphoria; I've been wearing it for a few years now and it really is my favorite. I don't care if I am running to the grocery store, picking up kids from school, going to the pool or out to dinner and dancing- I've got my perfume on!

The ring on the right of this diptych is from my mother. She randomly mailed me a piece of jewelry a couple weeks ago just because she loves me. Talk about make somebody feel special! It's not every day a girl gets a sparkly package in the mail. I fell in love with this ring immediately and wear it almost everyday. People compliment me on the ring all the time and it is a really fun conversation piece! Thanks, Mom. <3

Mad props to the awesome and talented blogger, designer, photographer and all around super cool gal, Heather Scott. She was inspired by this blog and so Heather invited myself and the super talented and humorous, Missie Jurick to participate along with her in this weekly blog circle. Each week, the three of us will be sharing with you - you guessed it- AWESOME & AWKWARD scenarios that have personally happened to us in hopes that you will get to know us a bit better, be able to share a laugh or two ...and maybe relate...or not? So, without further ado, here I go!

Awkward:

Watching Sugar Lumps by Flight of the Conchords with my MOM AND DAD!! ***Disclaimer***If you are NOT allowed to watch HBO or may be offended by adult, New Zealand HBO humor DO NOT CLICK that link. Otherwise, for a good laugh and to perhaps understand why it was SO AWKWARD click it. And laugh. ...but maybe not with your parents or at work. ;)
Buying Acne Free for myself and NOT my teenage daughter. In all seriousness who, besides myself, in their *early* 30's (okay, okay, *mid*-30's) has more breakouts than a sophmore ..in highschool?! And just where did Becca get her beautiful skin? It hardly seems fair considering my body has never been the same since giving birth. ...but I digress... *sigh*
Trying to hide my new obsession, Words with Friends, a FREE app you can download for your iphone or android phone and then spend countless hours playing a Scrabble like game with your friends. The awkward part comes when you are visiting with your mom while trying to play. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to strategize while pretending to pay attention to a conversation while pretending that the game is NOT open on your phone and it is NOT your turn and you have no idea why the phone is making that silly noise because NO it's NOT a notification that it is your turn and NO it's NOT making that sound because you just played a word. ....AWKWARD.... because I wasn't pulling the wool over my mom's eyes. ;)

Awesome:

Playing Words with Friends with my sister and horribly BEATING HER! psh. And to think she is the English Major *insert evil mocking laughter* Sorry, sis, what can I say? Victory is sweet. Care for a rematch? ..... I love you. ;)
My parents visiting. It's not often that I get to see them so when they do come to visit it is super special. I love them. I am blessed with the most amazing and AWESOME parents in the ~~whole wide world~~ UNIVERSE. I love you Mom and Dad! <3 (They just left about an hour ago to head back home with my girls which leads me to the next AWESOME highlight...)
My girls spending a few days in Illinois with my parents. They are so lucky to have such wonderful, fun and loving Grandparents. Another blessing- the time my girls get to spend with my mom and dad, creating memories and having such a special and close relationship with them. <3
Finding Lela super cute, supportive and PURPLE summer sandles! We looked at 4 different shoe stores before stopping at Stride Rite (why I didn't go there first, I can't tell you, I should have known) Lela has juvenile rhuematoid arthritis so it is important that she has good shoes to help keep her knees and ankles from hurting her anymore than they already do bother her from the arthritis. The Keen Hybridlife sandals were just what I was searching for to buy for Lela. You can find them online here.
My new kitchen sink and faucet. I love it. My husband rocks--I'm not sure if there is anything he CAN'T do. I love him.
Throwback Pepsi because real sugar beats high fructose corn syrup anyday. Throwback Pepsi has won my heart. It's so tasty. Plus, let's face it. The throwback can is so much more AWESOME than the new/regular pepsi can.

My good friend and fellow photographer, Heather, decided to do a June Photography challenge and invited anybody to participate. I quickly jumped on the wagon- anything to help me become a better blogger and have fun with photography at the same time! The first challenge is a self-portrait and this is what I came up with for my image. I am in love with the FX Camera app on my droid (it's a free app) --mainly because I love the polaroid effect that you can apply to any image. I heart polaroid photographs. It's a serious love affair. I also really enjoy snapping quick photos on my phone because *gasp* I don't always have my Imagene (my other love- my Canon 7D) with me and I am the only one in the house that doesn't have a point and shoot ::sad face:: - they don't always share, okay? ;) Follow the link to Heather's blog to see what the June Photography Challenge is and join in the fun with us OR just peep the posts and leave some love. Raising Relief Funds for the Community of Joplin, MO - Omaha Professional Photographer

I've heard the news reports, watched you tube videos, looked at photographs and listend to stories about the devestation that rocked the community of Joplin, MO. It's left me sad and speechless with a need to reach out and try to help in some way. I want to do my part to help but I need your help to do it. I want to help raise funds for the local chapter of the Red Cross. Together, I believe we can make a difference. First Holy Communion - Omaha Professional Photographer

Lela made her First Holy Communion on April 10th this year. Here is a photograph (okay so maybe a few photographs) of her in my studio that morning before we left to go to church. I loved her dress! It was simple and soft and classic. Her dress was hand sewn and my mother made her headpiece and veil. (The little stinker refused to wear my First Communion dress from when I was little. She said it was ugly. *gasp* Meanwhile, Becca was annoyed that she was never even given the option of wearing my dress. Oy! My girls. ...at the very least they keep me on my toes. ;)

Hey, if you knew how little I baked, you would be excited too! ;) Here are a few photos from the last time it was my turn to host bookclub. I chose House Rules by Jodi Picoult. It is a really great read. I highly recommend it. Anyway, I was feeling a bit adventerous and decided to bake homemade cupcakes. It was a success! I didn't burn down the house AND they were tasty! Don't worry, I actually had Jimmy John's and some fresh fruit from Hy-Vee to feed the guests as back-up.

Marian High School After Prom Donation - Omaha Professional Photographer

My daughter attends Marian High School (love this wonderful school!) and recently, a letter was sent home explaining that they are hosting their annual Junior Senior After Prom Party. This letter was sent out to explain the concept of the afterparty, where it is hosted, who is invited and also requested donations. I think this is a fabulous event that the school hosts for their students and the students' guests. The gala is chaperoned and encourages the highschool students to celebrate responsibly and safely. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to support such a great cause for our youth and I am excited that I had the opportunity to donate. :)

E. Vining Photography is donating a $470 gift voucher for one lucky student to win a Senior Portrait Session. This gift voucher will give cover the cost of one super fantastic senior session and the minimum print investment for the student who wins this package. I *can't wait* to meet the winner!!

I always love packaging my clients' orders and the donations to the organizations that I get involved with in the community. I thought today I would share with you what that lucky student will receive when their name is called.

My little nephew is so stinkin' cute! He is the happiest baby- ever....except towards the end of his photo session. He was a tad tired of being a ham for the camera. This Christmas season I need your help. I need just a bit of your time. I know we all have a tremendous amount of busy-ness in our lives... especially around this time of year and so you may think I have quite a bit of moxy asking for help, for asking for a bit of your time, but I cannot do this alone.

This Christmas season I want to partner with you and help bring a bit of Christmas spirit, a giving spirit, to somebody who might need our help.

You know somebody who over this past year has experienced some sort of life-changing circumstance, a loss, a tragedy. Somebody who is trying to stay afloat while working more than one job, a single parent struggling to raise a family or maybe it is somebody who gives back so much for the community that they forget to do for themselves. You know somebody who cannot afford custom photography and who deserves to have beautiful photographs of their family as a cherished keepsake.

So, I am asking you to take a moment to tell me who that person is so that they can receive complimentary custom portrait photography this Christmas Season. I want to share with that person $500 of custom portrait work...prints, canvases, albums, memory books or a slideshow. And they'll have you to thank for it. Just think. All it took was a bit of your time to bring a smile to that someone's face and to give them a priceless gift - artwork they will cherish forever.

I almost forgot. You, because you are generous and caring, can be a winner. First, there are guaranteed warm fuzzies for giving so freely of your time but the best part is if your nominee is picked then you will win custom portrait photography yourself....a $200 print credit!

There are a few rules.

1. You *cannot* nominate yourself. The person or family you nominate must be incapable of purchasing custom portrait photography themselves. (Being unable to afford to fly their private jet to their winter home in the Galapagos Islands because they are having problems making their 3 million dollar mortage payment on their house here does not qualify them as a sincere recipient/nominee.)

2. The nominee must live in Omaha, Bellevue, Elkhorn, Bennington, Papillion, Gretna or Millard, Nebraska.

3. You have to take the time to email me their full story. I was so happy this Saturday when I woke up and the weatherman's forecast from the week before- and every night since then- rang true! The sun was shining and the temperature, although a bit cool, was relatively mild for so late into the fall. The Saturday before this, the De Rozairo family and I had planned a family session but between the overcast skies, the racing wind (truly, I felt like I was starring in The Wizard of Oz), chilly temps and drizzles we had to reschedule. I've been crossing my fingers ever since. I have really been looking forward to photographing this family. We've been talking about it for awhile and so I was excited to wake up Saturday to see that it was going to work out. Here's just a few of the images from our time together. We had such a FUN time. This is probably one of my favorite sessions to date. Lynette really embodied softness and femininity throughout the session and I fell in love with the frames! Who's Imagene? Well, if you've been following the blog long enough you might already know but for those of you who are new here this post is where she has her first honorable mention. Alright...so I name my camera. It's cool.

Anyway, I was asked to photograph an urban headshot session by some amazingly talented opera singers, Jennifer and Brandon so they could have some updated headshots. I was thrilled to work with them. I was super excited because they traveled from South Dakota just to work with me! Talk about make somebody feel special. :)

It was such a super fun session! Imagine....Jennifer's heel getting stuck in a crack down in the Omaha Old Market and instead of a gasp escaping her mouth an amazing scale of beautiful notes came trinkling out. Meanwhile, Brandon was singing quietly on and off throughout the couple hours we spent together. I was loving every minute of it! Best part? Imagene LOVED them. It's always nice to photograph beautiful people. They definitely fit the bill.

Thank you, Jennifer and Brandon, for the opportunity to photograph you, for traveling to Omaha from South Dakota to work with me, for the fun time and laughs and especially for the talent that you shared with my ears that day. Gifts from Mongolia - Omaha Professional Photographer

My mother-in-law went to Mongolia to visit my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. She came back bearing gifts. I'll share Lela's gift with you first. Kathy, my MIL, brought Lela back this beautiful handsewn Mongolian dress with a matching embellished fancy jacket. It is traditional wear for Mongolian girls on special days or events. Lela adores it! Kathy asked me before she left to please be sure to photograph her in it...well of course! As if I would pass up that chance! ;) What my MIL doesn't know (and don't worry, I'm pretty sure she doesn't blog stalk me) is that her Christmas gift this year is going to be a HUGE canvas of Lela in her Mongolian wear. So...if you are related..shhh! It's a surprise. Don't ruin it for her. ;)

This is my favorite image. I absolutely love it. Although, this is not the image I will be giving my mother-in-law and I won't post it here or on FB just in case she does decide to take a peek at the blog. Then the whole surprise won't be ruined...and also, I think I'll be giving her a color canvas.

This particular image just puts a smile on my face. It is such a genuine photograph and truly represents Lela when she is tickled about something. I love it, not only as a photographer but even more as a mom.

Lela is always so fun to photograph...when she is in the mood. This particular day was one of those days. She was excited to help me make her Gramma's Christmas gift. She was happy to put on her Mongolia dress...and she charmed me the whole session through. You can take a peek at the color images here.

Color or Black & White? { Omaha, NE Professional Photographer }

Awhile back you may remember this post. I asked you, my readers, which image was preferred...black and white or color? I'm revisting that today. What say you? I tend to lean towards the black and white images when it comes to portraits, especially headshots. For me, I fee they are more classy and the eye does not stray from the subject or roam around the image as much. I can appreciate color. I just love black and white.

Today's image is a photo of Lynette taken on my front porch this past Sunday. She was a big help as my assistant on the fun urban sessions I did downtown in the Omaha Old Market. Those images will be shared in a later blogpost. For now, which do you prefer? The black and white portrait (my fave) or does the color one do it for you?

A couple weeks ago I had a contest on my Facebook page and Trish happened to be one of the winners! We were both excited. Trish and I had the opportunity to take a class together awhile back and the quarter was spent filled with lots of laughter (Trish's laugh is infectious) and breaking the hard fast rule "No horsing around in the darkroom". I seemed to have been a target because I scare easily. Although, I must say when there is an image of a scary dude holding a chainsaw hung above the processor it does tend to help the imagination run a little wild. ;) In all fairness I should mention Trish wasn't the only culprit; she had several people willing to help. One of them, Lynette Regier , is a good friend of mine and accompanies me on most my shoots, toting the reflector, scouting locations within the venue, carrying equipment and is my second pair of eyes. Needless to say, we had a ball on this shoot. :)

I loved these trails within the wooded area! Although, I probably wouldn't have stepped foot on them by myself ( I spend too much time watching Criminal Minds ). Trish and I gave Lynette a hard time by suggesting we'd leave her with bread crumbs while she was scouting the area. She didn't see the humor in it.

Of course, we had to end the session near the water and rocks. It was so pretty. Trish especially wanted a photograph of her by the waterfall but I'll be saving it for her on-line gallery. I don't want to give away of the yummy photo goodness at once!

I just couldn't end this post without including a photograph of Lynette. We goofed around on this shoot just as much as we did in class. It was great hanging out again. Thank you for such a fun shoot, Trish! I almost forgot! You can view the color version of Trish's portraits by clicking here.

Photographing Twins is Always Fun { Omaha Professional Photographer }

Yesterday I had a fabulous session with two adorable twins! We had a great time. These images were captured in my studio using available natural light. You can view the color versions here.

(D) looked so darn pretty in her black and white flowered top. She had a super cute pair of jeans on- all blinged out in diamond rhinestones. She is quite the fashionista.

(A) is the sweetest boy. He has the most gorgeous eyelashes ever and a very catching smile. He was super comfortable in front of the camera, too!

Creighton Prep hosted their homecoming for Freshman last night. Here is one of my favorite captures from the beginning of the evening. Of course, as a mom and a photographer I had my camera out. ;)
